This research is qualitative, based on direct observation, the objective of which is to analyze the contribution to learning of the activities proposed in the textbooks of Editorial Santillana as part of the program established in the curriculum design of Initial Education. Within the problem of this work arises the interest of developing a study aimed at examining the learning tasks in the Initial Education books of the Editorial Santillana What types of learning activities do the Initial Education textbooks of the Editorial Santillana incorporate? An analysis sheet was applied to the activities of the High-Performance Kids 1 and 2 books. The results showed that in terms of pedagogical currents, the High Performance Kids 1 and 2 book is closely related to Piaget's theories, regarding the stage Preoperational and cognitively the reversibility of thought, in the pedagogical the Montessori method, and in the social with Vygotsky, the activities developed in the book, try to favor the procedural and attitudinal development of the child, proposes activities that promote knowledge and interrelation between school, community and country. In conclusion, in the case of the class in Initial I, the textbook has an impact on the pedagogical process, the teacher uses the textbook as a support to achieve learning, since it fulfills multiple functions that provides information to the teacher and student, since through it, effective alternatives for classroom learning are considered
