Cambios estructurales en la economía ecuatoriana según diferentes versiones de las cuentas nacionales

The general objective of the thesis is to clarify that even with the inclusion of methodological changes incorporated into the different versions of the national accounts, they have both shown consistency and lack thereof in their respective structure. One can argue that even though they are similar in their respective internal composition, it can be possible to distinguish them from one another. By using Spearman’s correlation as a statistical tool, verification of the order and regulation of the data is shown to be consistent between the series. The presence of changes between the: annual base in the same numerary year and the inclusion of oil refinement, the absolute values of the numbers in the different versions of the National Accounts that we’ve considered are different. The coefficients of the rank correlation in the various combinations executed are so high, that a notable consistency emerges in the magnitude of the data along the various series that were analyzed. This is true for the majority of the data except for a select few. Additionally, it stands out that in the GDP per Industry account, Ecuador is a predominantly an industrial and simple services country, not an oil or agricultural country as it is wrongly perceived by many.
El objetivo general de esta tesis es esclarecer, si a pesar de los cambios metodológicos incorporados en las diferentes versiones de las Cuentas Nacionales, estas han mantenido o no una consistencia tanto al interior de cada una de ellas como en los espacios dentro de los cuales es posible comparar unas con otras. Usamos la correlación de Spearman como herramienta estadística para verificar si el ordenamiento de los datos es consistente entre series. Como es de esperar, al haber cambios en los años base, en los numerarios y en la inclusión de refinación de petróleo, los valores absolutos de las cifras en las diferentes versiones de las Cuentas Nacionales que hemos considerado son distintos. Llama la atención que los coeficientes de correlaciones de rangos en los varios cruces que hemos efectuado son tan altos que dejan claro que existe una notable consistencia en el orden de magnitudes de esos datos a lo largo de las varias series analizadas a excepción de unos pocos. Asimismo, salta a la vista que, en la cuenta de PIB por Industria, el Ecuador es un país predominantemente de servicios y hasta industrial mas no un país petrolero o agrícola como se preconiza en la “sabiduría popular”.
