Description

To determine the prevalence of mental health problems in children attending Middle School from a public and private institution, located in a sub-urban area of Quito- Ecuador. Design: Cross sectional survey. Participants: 380 Ecuadorian students attending Middle School from a public and private institution who belong to different socio-economic status. Main outcome measures: To determine and to compare the prevalence of mental health problems in the studied population. Method: Cross sectional survey applying the the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Size sample: n=380. The SDQ algorithm generated specific predictions for conduct disorders, hyperactivity disorders and emotional disorders as well as an overall prediction for any mental health problem.
