This work is composed by three parts: an academic paper which studies masculinities within the montubio population, a magazine “ENFOQUE” which introduce us to the montubio culture and a web page that presents the magic of montubio food and music. Montubios in Ecuador… we all have heard from them or have read something on the paper. But, who are they? Their music, their culture, their food, their oral tradition, their women and their men. According to the last population census in 2010, they represented the 7,4% of Ecuadorians, the second largest population in Ecuador, with a strong influence in the political history of the country. This investigation sums their characteristics both negative and positive, describes the flavor of their food and the archness of their oral poetry also know as amorfinos, the importance of handling the machete, their connection with nature, the pass of time and the evolution of their generations. This investigation focuses in the montubios of Manabí and the traditions that their people so vehemently hold.
Este trabajo está compuesto de tres partes: un paper académico que estudia las masculinidades en el pueblo montubio, un formato de prensa escrita “ENFOQUE” que nos introduce a la cultura montubia y una página web que presenta la magia de la comida y la música del pueblo montubio. Los montubios en Ecuador… todos hemos oído hablar de ellos o leído algo en los periódicos. ¿Pero quiénes son? Su música, su cultura, su comida, su tradición oral, sus mujeres y sus hombres. Según el censo del 2010, representan el 7,4% de la población ecuatoriana, son la segunda población más grande en Ecuador, con una fuerte influencia en la historia política del país. Este trabajo resume sus características tanto negativas como positivas, describe el sazón de sus comidas y la picardía de sus versos también conocidos como amorfinos, la importancia del uso del machete, su conexión con la naturaleza, el paso del tiempo y la evolución de sus generaciones. Este trabajo se enfoca en los montubios de Manabí y en las tradiciones que su población con tanta pasión mantiene.
