El efecto del microhabitat en la diversidad de mariposas de los bosques en la Estación de Biodiversidad Tiputini

The study of the habitat and strata used by butterflies attracted by traps baited with decomposed fish, gave me the opportunity to extend my understanding of their diversity and distribution at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve in the northern Ecuadorian Amazonia. Traps were located in understory and canopy of forests of terra firme, varzea and in the top of a hill. In total 264 individuals of 94 subspecies were trapped between May 28th and August 20th of 2002. Significant differences were found in species diversity (Shannon’s coefficient of community) in terra firme vs. varzea, and top of the hill vs. varzea. Terra firme forest had the most biodiversity with 54 subespecies, 47 in varzea, 43 in top of the hill. No significant differences were found in species diversity between strata.
El estudio del hábitat y estrato de las mariposas atraídas a trampas cebadas con pescado podrido me dio la oportunidad de ampliar el entendimiento de su diversidad y distribución espacial en la Estación de Biodiversidad Tiputini, dentro de la Reserva de Biosfera Yasuní, en la Amazonia Ecuatoriana norte. Se trampeó en sotobosque y dosel en tierra firme, várzea, y cima de loma. Se capturaron 264 individuos de 94 subespecies desde el 28 de mayo hasta el 20 de agosto del 2002. Se encontraron diferencias significativas en la diversidad de especies (coeficiente de comunidad de Shannon) entre los bosques de várzea y tierra firme, y várzea y cima de loma. El bosque más diverso fue el de tierra firme, se encontraron 54 subespecies en tierra firme, 47 en várzea y 43 en cima de loma.
