This thesis proposed the business plan of a bicycle rental service as a mass transportation medium for the city of Quito. The company UIOBICI brought up a different alternative to those available right now in the city, since it focused on an ecological and low priced form of transportation which could really help to solve the traffic congestion problem of Quito. Even more, this way of transportation could help people to have a healthier life, in which they can exercise on the daily routine and decrease their levels of stress by avoiding traffic jams every day. After analyzing the environmental conditions and the Transportation Industry, a strategic plan was developed throughout this document, followed by a Marketing, Operations and Human Resources plan. Finally, a financial study was constructed in order to understand the feasibility of the project in economical terms. The business plan demonstrated to be completely viable and a very interesting project.
Esta tesis trató sobre el plan de negocios de un servicio de alquiler de bicicletas como transporte masivo para la ciudad de Quito. La empresa, llamada UIOBICI propuso una alternativa diferente a las que existen actualmente en la ciudad, ya que se enfoca en un transporte más ecológico y más económico, que realmente podría ayudar a descongestionar el tráfico de la ciudad. Aún más, esta alternativa de movilización ayudaría a la ciudadanía a llevar una vida más saludable, por medio la realización de más deporte en el día a día y a través de la disminución del estrés al no tener que lidiar con el abrumador tráfico de Quito. Se realizó un plan estratégico después de analizar el entorno y la Industria del Transporte. Luego se procedió a desarrollar un Plan de Marketing, un Plan de Operaciones y de Recursos Humanos. Finalmente se construyó un Plan Financiero para estudiar la factibilidad del proyecto en términos económicos, después de lo cual se descubrió que UIOBICI es una propuesta interesante y completamente viable.
