Inventories that the companies in the oil industry keep are a very important part of their current assets, but the main basis of keeping in their cellars finished products, is that they must ensure the daily operation of the equipments installed in the different oil production facilities. Spare parts and supplies that make up their inventories should be controlled by a computer system that emits reliable and accurate data, so that the final user can have the materials when they are required. The proposal for a study on the administration of inventories that Petroriental S.A. keeps in its cellars, aims to determine if the different items that have reordering levels, are based on the demand and consumption of each, as well as their periods of replenishment or periodic rearrangements, enabling to meet the daily needs that the operation requires. The results of the study will allow the administrators of inventories in the cellars of Petroriental S. A. to have a tool that will help them to take appropriate and timely decisions about stock levels, with emphasis on the levels for safety items. So it will be determined if the point of rearrangement or ROP, and the maximum point, whose initials are MAX, are adequate or actually the cellars are maintained with an overloaded stock, assuming a shortage through a demand and consumption calculated in an inappropriate way.
Los inventarios que mantienen las empresas en la industria petrolera son una parte muy importante de sus activos corrientes, pero el fundamento principal de mantener en sus bodegas productos terminados, está en que se debe precautelar la operación diaria de sus equipos instalados en las diferentes facilidades de producción de petróleo. Los repuestos e insumos que conforman sus inventarios, deben ser controlados mediante un sistema informático que emita datos confiables y fidedignos, de tal manera que el usuario final tenga sus materiales cuando los requiere. La propuesta de realizar un estudio sobre la administración de los inventarios que mantiene en sus bodegas Petroriental S.A. tiene como objetivo, determinar si los diferentes ítems que tienen niveles de reordenamiento, están basados en la demanda y consumo de cada uno, así como también sus periodos de reposición o reordenamientos periódicos, que permitan suplir las necesidades diarias que requiere la operación. Los resultados del estudio permitirán, que los administradores de inventarios, en las bodegas de Petroriental S. A. tengan una herramienta que les ayude a tomar decisiones adecuadas y oportunas, sobre los niveles de stock, poniendo énfasis en los niveles para ítems de seguridad. Por lo tanto se determinara si el punto de reordenamiento o ROP, por sus siglas en ingles y el punto máximo, cuyas siglas son MAX, son los adecuados o en realidad las bodegas se mantienen con un sobre stock, asumiendo un desabastecimiento mediante una demanda y consumo calculados de manera inadecuada.
