Nueva Materialidad en Arquitectura: Museo de arte contemporáneo para Quito

Description: The project “Contemporary Art Museum” emerges from the study of new materiality in architecture and the development of a program that could embrace this study in a way where physical characteristics of materials can be the protagonists of architecture. The project is thought in terms of a functional museum that incorporates the use of materials as the main factor in the decision making, both in structure as in the expression that it will have. This project also analyses the possibility of materials as a way of expression that will lead to the attraction of people, generating a public, cultural space where visitors can maximize their experience of the building and space.
El proyecto “Museo de Arte Contemporáneo” nace del estudio de la nueva materialidad en arquitectura y el desarrollo de un programa que pudiera abarcar este estudio de manera cualitativa. El proyecto parte de la necesidad de que el programa de un museo mantenga su funcionalidad, y que además incorpore el uso de materiales como el factor primordial en la toma de decisiones, tanto estructurales como expresivas. Además, este proyecto investiga la posibilidad de que mediante la exploración de la expresión formal y material de una edificación esta se vea beneficiada por la atracción de personas, generando un espacio de concentración social y cultural, además de maximizar la experiencia del visitante.
