This is an investigation into the incidence of keratoconus for a period of three months in patients of three opticals from the city of Latacunga the goal is to determine the percentage of patients with this condition, identify cases of keratoconus stud evaluate and encourage the community about the importance of visual examination once a year and thus make it more likely to detect possible Keratoconus. determine the characteristics of the population being studied, identify cases of keratoconus, evaluate and encourage the community to become aware of testing to detect early symptoms of keratoconus. The methodology used to develop the research is examination-research, in collaboration with people affected by this disease, achieving the study of familial incidence. The focus of keratoconus cases are found in our optical consultation in the city of Latacunga. Keratoconus is a disease affecting the cornea, which adopts an irregular conical shape because of a change in the internal structure and produces a thinning or paracentral central region thereof, the disease progresses and this leads to an increasing loss of visual acuity. Este es una investigación sobre la Incidencia de Queratocono por el lapso de tres meses en pacientes de tres ópticas de la ciudad de Latacunga, el objetivo es determinar el porcentaje de pacientes con esta Patología, identificar los casos de estudio con Queratocono, evaluar he incentivar a la comunidad sobre la importancia de realizar examen visual una vez al año y de esta forma hacer más probable la detección de posibles Queratoconos. La metodología aplicada para el desarrollo del trabajo investigativo es examinación-investigación retrospectiva, con la colaboración de personas afectadas por esta patología. El enfoque son los casos de Queratocono que encontramos en consulta en nuestras ópticas en la ciudad de Latacunga. El Queratocono es una enfermedad que afecta a la córnea, la cual adopta una forma cónica irregular por causa de una alteración de su estructura interna y produce un adelgazamiento en la zona central o paracentral de la misma, la enfermedad va avanzando y con esto lleva a una perdida cada vez mayor de la agudeza visual. La causa del porque se origina es muy discutida aún ya que no se sabe con exactitud las causas y con ello nos ha llevado a varias hipótesis, que en este proyecto trataremos de aportar.
