Mejoría de la calidad de vida del cuidador principal de un enfermo de Alzheimer

Alzheimer's disease is mainly characterized by being extremely degenerative; people who suffer this disease are affected in many of their functions, in particular in their memory. By being degenerative, with the pass of the time this people lose their dependence and end up being completely dependent of another person. Usually a family member takes the role of their principal caregiver; this can lead them to get high levels of burden, especially in emotional aspects. This burden levels are a risk in their health, this is why they need help to handle this situation in a healthy way. This study measured the burden level on the main caregivers of people who suffer Alzheimer disease that attends to TASE foundation applying tow times the same survey that was taken from an academic article which its Spanish version was validated. The first one measured their burden levels before the person who has Alzheimer attended to the centre; the second one measured the burden levels they have right now, when the person who has Alzheimer is attending to the centre.
La enfermedad de Alzheimer es caracterizada por ser degenerativa, afecta directamente a las personas que la padecen en muchas de sus funciones, en especial a la memoria. Al ser degenerativa, con el transcurso del tiempo estas personas van perdiendo su independencia hasta el punto de llegar a ser completamente dependientes de otras personas. Generalmente, un familiar es el cuidador principal de esta persona atendiendo a todas sus necesidades, por lo que esto puede conllevar a niveles de sobrecarga muy altos, sobre todo emocionalmente. Estos niveles de sobrecarga pueden ser riesgosos en la salud general del cuidador, es por esto que estas personas necesitan ayuda para conllevar esta situación de una manera saludable. En este estudio se midió el nivel de sobrecarga de los cuidadores de enfermos de Alzheimer aplicando una encuesta extraída de un artículo académico en su versión validada al español. Se aplicó dos veces esta encuesta a los cuidadores de enfermos de Alzheimer que asisten a la fundación TASE. La primera encuesta reflejaba los niveles de sobrecarga que tenían antes de que el enfermo ingrese al centro, la segunda refleja los niveles de sobrecarga que tienen ahora, cuando los enfermos ya están asistiendo a dicho centro.
