Description

Vernacular architecture is a reflection of the tradition and identity of a specific sector. Later, Amos Rapoport, in his book "House and culture" extended the understanding of the vernacular architecture, linking the mode of social life, location and distribution of space, saying that not only the external environment influences the function and form of buildings. In Ecuador we can find various climates, topographical environments and cultures, this depends on each region. This growth began in the historic center of Quito, which was built in the colonial era, a period that defined a specific lifestyle, which in turn encouraged the creation of new settlements near the old town, as is the case Guápulo sector. Guápulo grew on par with the historical center, its irregular and steep topography made this sector does not have a defined as in other areas of Quito route, which grew adapting to it longitudinally, as it is limited by the Machángara gorge of river and mountain industry in Quito Gonzalez Suarez. All this caused Guápulo develop its own identity both culturally and architecturally, differing from the rest of the city, being a place of sharp contrasts, where we can see old and modern buildings. The proposed project consists of temporary housing since the Guápulo sector is a major consolidation process. This is influenced by the culture and the environment, preserving cultural and architectural vernacular features. It aims to make the implementation of a transitional housing program that includes 80 homes in an area of 11,000 m2, where architectural features that emphasize establishing temporary object, and stored and highlights the identity is established within Guápulo.
La arquitectura vernácula es el reflejo de la tradición e identidad de un sector específico. Más tarde, Amos Rapoport, en su libro “Vivienda y cultura” extendió el entendimiento sobre la arquitectura vernácula, relacionando el modo de vida social, la ubicación y distribución de los espacios, expresando que no solo el medio externo influye en la función y forma de las edificaciones. En el Ecuador podemos encontrar varios climas, entornos topográficos y culturas distintas, esto depende de cada región. Este crecimiento empezó en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Quito, el cual fue construido en la época colonial, época que definió un estilo de vida específico, y a su vez incentivó la creación de nuevos asentamientos cerca del casco histórico, como es el caso del sector de Guápulo. Guápulo creció a la par con el centro histórico, su topografía irregular y pronunciada hizo que este sector no tuviera un trazado definido como en las demás zonas de Quito, por lo que crecía adaptándose a ella de manera longitudinal, ya que se encuentra limitada por la quebrada del río Machángara y la montaña del sector González Suárez en Quito. Todo esto provocó que Guápulo desarrollara una identidad propia tanto culturalmente como arquitectónicamente, diferenciándose del resto de la ciudad, siendo un lugar de contrastes marcados, en los que podemos observar edificaciones antiguas y modernas. El proyecto planteado consiste en vivienda temporal ya que el sector de Guápulo se encuentra en un importante proceso de consolidación. Este se ve influenciado por la cultura y el ambiente, así conservando rasgos vernáculos culturales y arquitectónicos. Se pretende realizar la implementación de un programa de vivienda temporal que abarca 80 viviendas en un terreno de 11.000 m2, donde se establecen características arquitectónicas que enfatizan el objeto de temporalidad, y se conserva y resalta la identidad que está establecida dentro de Guápulo.
