La presente investigación determinó la influencia de las aguas termales en la diversidad de especies de ríos andinos. Como sistema de estudio, se trabajó en la cuenca del río Cachiyacu y sus afluentes, los cuales presentan un sistema de experimentación natural con distintos grados de influencia de aguas termales. Se hipotetizó que la variación fisicoquímica de los ríos genera procesos de selección que, potencialmente, generarían comunidades de macroinvertebrados distintas.
