Description

Quito is a city that is in high risk of being affected by natural calamities because of its geographical location. Some of the natural disasters that often affect the calm from the citizens of Quito are: Volcanic eruptions, avalanches, landslides, fall of “piroclastos”, lava fall, ash, volcanic incidence, earthquakes, tremors, floods, fires, between others. The institutions that are in charge of protecting the citizens when these natural calamities occur are: the Ecuadorian Red Cross, the Metropolitan Firemen, the 911 and the Civil Defense. In order to be able to face these situations the institutions previously mentioned should cooperate and coordinate so they could join forces and organize their efforts to get a better outcome out of them.
La localización geográfica vuelve a la ciudad de Quito un lugar de alto riesgo natural puesto que fenómenos de diversas variedades amenazan con frecuencia la tranquilidad de los habitantes capitalinos. Erupciones volcánicas, aludes, derrumbes, descenso de piroclastos, ceniza, caída de lava, incidencia volcánica, terremotos, temblores, inundaciones, incendios, además de algunos peligros antrópicos, son las amenazas a las que se ve expuesta la capital. Las instituciones encargadas de proteger a la ciudadanía son: la cruz roja ecuatoriana, los bomberos metropolitanos, el 911 y la defensa civil. Estas entidades deberían trabajar entre si y conformar un equipo especializado capaz de enfrentarse a las múltiples vulnerabilidades del distrito metropolitano.
