Description

Rising sea levels, the huge increase in urbanization and the corresponding lack of space have been a serious problem inspiring the construction over water. The construction on water can help find solutions to many problems: flood protection, have water and power facilities, better technology, space and sustainability. These threats to prosperity provide architects with a platform that can express themselves. But we really need to benefit from this opportunity. Urban development in the aquatic territory creates unprecedented flexibility in water, which increases the chances of planning in order to change. For this reason, the Community Center and Interpretation in Galapagos is a sustainable project that attempts to solve these problems and take care of the ecosystem. It´s proposal also seeks to create a relationship between the community of the island and its tourism. Offers a place were people can meet the islands not only for its diversity, its people through an experience full of research, exhibition, leisure and learning areas. Galapagos needs of this type of equipment to enrich culturally and use their wealth in a more conscious way.
El aumento del nivel del mar, la urbanización y la correspondiente falta de espacio han creado un impulso para la construcción sobre el agua. Construir en el agua puede contribuir a encontrar soluciones a un gran número de problemas: protección contra las inundaciones, tener facilidades de agua y energía, una mejor tecnología, espacio y sostenibilidad. Estas amenazas para la prosperidad proveen a los arquitectos con una plataforma en la que se pueden expresar ellos mismos. Pero nosotros realmente necesitamos aprovechar la oportunidad. El desarrollo urbano en el territorio acuático crea una flexibilidad sin precedentes en el agua, lo que aumenta las posibilidades de planificación para el cambio. Es por esto, que El Centro Comunitario y de Interpretación en Galápagos es un proyecto sustentable que intenta solucionar estos problemas y cuidar del ecosistema. Busca también con su propuesta generar una relación entre la comunidad de la isla y su actividad turística. Propone un espacio de encuentro que permita conocer las islas no solo por su diversidad sino por su gente a través de una experiencia llena de investigación, exhibición, áreas de ocio y aprendizaje. Galápagos necesita de este tipo de equipamientos para enriquecer culturalmente y poner explotar sus riquezas de una manera más consiente.
