La inversión extranjera directa y su impacto en el sector pesquero del Ecuador

Direct Foreign Investment (FDI) plays an important role in the development of host economies, since, in addition, injecting capital flows is an efficient means of acquiring technology, knowledge and other elements that contribute to the international competitiveness of companies and companies and of the related countries. For this reason, the present research project analyzes the impact of FDI in the fishing sector of Ecuador; for this purpose, an exploratory, descriptive and explanatory methodology implemented; which developed through a detailed analysis of the behavior of the variables foreign investment and economic growth of the fishing sector during the period 2006-2017. Consequently, an econometric model of Logarithmic type (Log-Log) was implemented, where the explanatory variables were the Gross Domestic Product, Employment and Exports of the fishing sector with respect to the variable explained IED. The result of the proposed model indicates that the economic activity of the fishing sector can be explained by FDI, by 81%; determining that when FDI is increased by 1%, fishing GDP increases by 0.11%; while for each percentage point that increases employment, GDP will increase by 0.19%; evidencing a positive relationship in the short and long term. In addition, it is important to indicate that the GDP of the fishing sector can not be explained by its exports.
La inversión extranjera directa (IED) desempeña un papel importante en el desarrollo de las economías receptoras, ya que además de inyectar corrientes de capital es un medio eficiente de adquirir tecnología, conocimiento y demás elementos que contribuyen a la competitividad internacional de las empresas y por ende de los países relacionados. Por tal razón, el presente proyecto investigativo analiza el impacto de la IED en el sector pesquero del Ecuador; para ello se implementó una metodología de carácter exploratorio, descriptivo y explicativo; que se desarrolló mediante un análisis detallado acerca del comportamiento de las variables inversión extranjera directa y crecimiento económico del sector pesquero durante el periodo 2006-2017. Consecuentemente se implementó un modelo econométrico de tipo Logarítmico (Log-Log), donde las variables explicativas fueron el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB), Empleo (L) y Exportaciones (X) del sector pesquero con respecto a la variable explicada IED. El resultado del modelo planteado indica que la actividad económica del sector pesquero si puede ser explicada por dicha variable, en un 81%; determinando que cuando se aumenta en 1% la IED, el PIB pesquero incrementa en 0,11%; mientras que por cada punto porcentual que incremente el empleo, el PIB se incrementará en 0,19%; evidenciando con ello una relación positiva en corto y largo plazo. Además, es importante indicar que el PIB del sector pesquero no puede ser explicado por sus exportaciones.
