El presente trabajo de investigación sobre la Adaptación de la Escala de Barthel para valorar la independencia funcional en niños con discapacidad intelectual, pretende adaptar la escala de Barthel que originalmente se aplica en adultos mayores, el proceso metodológico se desarrolló primero con una adaptación sistemática del instrumento de acuerdo al desarrollo motor del niño, realizando una revisión de información científica, mientras para la validación de los ítems del cuestionario de la escala se realizó con un comité de expertos que revisaron el instrumento, el manual y aprobaron a través de una ficha de validación; finalmente el análisis de confiabilidad y consistencia interna del instrumento se realizó mediante el cálculo del Coeficiente de Alfa de Cronbach con el estadístico SPSS v20; de la aplicación de la escala adaptada a 50 participantes, seleccionados de manera aleatoria. Concluyendo que la Escala de Barthel Adaptada, para niños con discapacidad intelectual, es fiable y tiene una consistencia interna alta por arrojar un valor de 0,83 del alfa.
The present research work on the Adaptation of the Barthel Scale to assess functional independence in children with intellectual disabilities, proposed the goal of adapting the Barthel scale originally applied in older adults, the methodological process was first developed with a systematic adaptation of the instrument according to the motor development of the child, carrying out a review of scientific information, while for the validation of the items of the scale questionnaire was carried out with a committee of experts who reviewed the instrument, the manual and approved through of a validation form; Finally, the analysis of reliability and internal consistency of the instrument was made by calculating the Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient with the SPSS v20 statistic; of the application of the scale adapted to 50 participants, selected in a random way. Concluding that the Adapted Barthel Scale, for children with intellectual disability, is reliable and has a high internal consistency for a value of 0.83 of the alpha.
