En el Hospital Provincial Docente Ambato (HPDA), el dolor abdominal agudo es la causa más frecuente de consulta. Por su parte, el dolor Gíneco-obstétrico constituye la segunda causa de hospitalización, siendo el Servicio de Emergencias el primer contacto con el paciente. Por ello, consideramos que es de vital importancia conocer las diferentes patologías causantes de abdomen agudo a las cuales nos debemos enfrentar. Así mismo, es crucial determinar de primera instancia si se trata de un abdomen agudo quirúrgico y si se precisa hospitalización inmediata. El determinante más importante en esta situación, por nuestro ambiente, es descartar la gestación al comienzo de la evaluación de la paciente, volviéndose imprescindible, por ejemplo, considerar la posibilidad de un embarazo ectópico roto que pueda convertirse en una cuestión de vida o muerte. El diagnóstico oportuno de dolor pélvico agudo es vital, en primera instancia, porque el retraso aumenta en proporción devastadora la morbimortalidad y, consecuentemente, el tiempo de recuperación, el gasto económico inherente al sistema económico e incluso, en estos tiempos tan hostiles con la carrera de medicina, por las demandas legales.

For this reason, is really vital to know about the different pathologies which causes the acute abdomen, and so confront them in the better way. Likewise, it is crucial to determine the first instance if it’s about of a quirurgic acute abdomen and if it needs immediate hospitalization. The most important factor in this situation, because of our environment, is discard a pregnancy at the beggining of the evaluation in a female patient. Considering the possibility of a broken ectopic pregnancy that could turn it in a death or life event, becomes essential. The opportune pelvic acute ache diagnosis is vital, at the first instance, because the delay in the diagnosis increases in a devastating proportion the mortality, and consequently, the recovery time for the patient, the inherent economic spending, and even, in these time too hostile with the medicine career, because of the legal demands.
