Tourism worldwide for several decades has experienced a continuous and rapid growth, to the point of becoming one of the economic sectors of greatest importance for local economic development; this is mainly because it helped socioeconomic progress with the generation of sources of employment for its inhabitants. In Ecuador, tourism is of great importance due to the fact that it has become one of the most important sources of non-oil income, due to the country's location, but above all to enjoy a diversity of flora and fauna, which are considered tourist attractions for foreign visitors. That is why in the province of Tungurahua mainly in the canton Cevallos tourism is of great importance because through it and the reactivation of the train routes have made known their handicrafts, increasing their income levels and they have chosen to create ventures. Thus generating more sources of employment for the entire population and thus improves the quality of life of it. The purpose of this research is to determine the importance and effect of tourism on the local economic development of the canton; this research involves a methodology based on secondary sources such as bibliographic review, database of official sources that will allow the realization of the econometric model and verification of the existing relationship of the variables to be studied.
El Turismo a nivel mundial durante varias décadas ha experimentado un continuo y rápido crecimiento, hasta llegar al punto de convertirse en uno de los sectores económicos de mayor importancia para el desarrollo económico local, esto se debe principalmente a que ayudado al progreso socioeconómico con la generación de fuentes de empleo para sus habitantes. En el Ecuador el turismo es de gran importancia debido a que se ha convertido en una de las fuentes de ingresos no petroleros más importante, por la ubicación con la que cuenta el país, pero sobre todo por gozar de una fauna y flora de gran diversidad, mismas que son consideradas atractivos turísticos para los visitantes extranjeros. Es por ello que en la provincia de Tungurahua principalmente en el cantón Cevallos el turismo es de gran importancia debido a que por medio del mismo y de la reactivación de las rutas del tren han dado a conocer sus productos artesanales, incrementando sus niveles de ingresos y han optado además por crear emprendimientos. Generando así de esta manera más fuentes de empleo para toda la población y así mejorar la calidad de vida de la misma. Con la presente investigación se pretende determinar la importancia y el efecto que tiene el turismo en el desarrollo económico local del cantón; esta investigación involucra una metodología basada en fuentes secundarias como son la revisión bibliográfica, base de datos de fuentes oficiales que permitirán la realización del modelo econométrico y verificación de la relación existente de las variables a estudiar.
