Estudio bromatologico y fitoquimico de la jicama (Smallanthus sonchifolia) para determinar el tiempo optimo de cosecha

Description

La línea ECU-1243 de jicama (Smallanthus sonchifolia), cultivada en la Estación Experimental Santa Catalina, fue monitoreada, muestreada y analizada desde el sexto hasta el décimo sexto mes de cultivo, con el fin de determinar el tiempo apropiado de cosecha para el aprovechamiento óptimo de los compuestos de interés presentes en la planta. El análisis químico de las hojas, tallos y raíces reveló que el extracto libre de nitrógeno, es el componente mayoritario de las raíces, alcanzando un contenido máximo de 91.27 % (Base seca) a los 16 meses de cultivo; a esta misma edad cronológica, los tallos mostraron el mayor contenido de fibra bruta (27.99 %), En las hojas, sobresalieron la proteína (21.76 %), el extracto etéreo (7.48 %) y las cenizas (18.36 %), contenidos que fueron máximos a los 6, 7 y 8 meses de cultivo, respectivamente.
The ECU-1243 ecotype of jicama (Smallanthus sonchifolia), was cultivated at the Santa Catalina Experimental Station, it was also traked, sampled and analyzed from the 6th sixth until the sixtheenth month of cultivation, with the purpose of determining the appropriate crop time for the optimal use of the nutritional and phytochemicals compounds present in the plant. The chemical analysis of leaves stems and roots revealed that the nitrogen free extract, is the majority component from roots, reaching a maximum content of 91.27% (dry base) in the sixtheenth month of cultivation; to this same chronological age, the stems showed the biggest content of fiber (27.99%). In the leaves, overhanaed the protein (21.76%), the ethereal extract (7.48%) and the ashes (18.36%), these contents reached their maximum values in the 6, 7 and 8 months of cultivation, respectively.
