Sustainable financing for Latin American projects

Nowadays, one of the main challenges in the international financial system is the financing of projects and ventures aligned with sustainability and with transcendence capacity and firm impact. The current trend highlights the need to expand the portfolio for financial institutions and support agencies, in order to accommodate a greater number of alternative projects. This article tries to expose the different financing alternatives in this matter from three central outlooks: green bonds; sustainable funds; and social finance. The results of this review show measures focused on impulsing and promoting projects in the areas of alternative energy and reduction of the environmental impact in the case of green bonds; research, innovation and development of green projects for the sustainable funds section; and promoting social change and improving life quality through social financing projects.
En la actualidad, uno de los principales desafíos a los que debe hacer frente el sistema financiero internacional es el financiamiento de proyectos y emprendimientos alineados hacia la sustentabilidad, con capacidad de trascendencia temporal y firme impacto. La tendencia actual pone en evidencia la necesidad de ampliar la cartera de productos para las instituciones financieras, así como organismos de apoyo, con la finalidad de dar cabida a mayor número de proyectos alternos. El presente artículo pretende exponer las distintas alternativas de financiamiento en esta materia, desde tres perspectivas centrales: bonos verdes; fondos sustentables; y financiamiento social. Los resultados de la revisión realizada muestran una clara suma de esfuerzos hacia el impulso y promoción de proyectos en los rubros de energías alternas y reducción en el impacto ambiental para el caso de bonos verdes; investigación, innovación y desarrollo de proyectos verdes para el apartado de fondos sustentables; y fomento del cambio social y mejora en la calidad de vida para los proyectos de financiamiento social.
