OBJETIVO: Evaluar el impacto de la caries temprana en la calidad de vida del niño menor de 71 meses de edad mediante la escala ECOHIS. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de articulos cientificos consultando bases como: Pub Med, Scielo, Google Académico, Scopus, en los idiomas español e inglés, con restricción de 5 años de antigüedad, sin importar el tipo de estudio. Se revisaron los resúmenes para verificar si el articulo era válido para la investigación. RESULTADOS: Los resultados obtenidos fueron que todos los articulos revisados concuerdan que los niños que presentan caries de infancia temprana (CIT) tienen un impacto negativo en la calidad de vida según la escala ECOHIS. CONCLUSIONES: La caries de infancia temprana deteriora la calidad de vida del niño y del padre, pues no solo lo afecta fisicamente en las funciones de masticación, fonación, deglusión sino también psicologicamente en la parte estética situaciones que se veran reflejadas en el crecimiento y desarrollo normal del niño.
AIM: To evaluate the impact of early childhood caries on the quality of life of children under 71 months of age through the ECOHIS scale. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A bibliographic review of scientific articles was carried out, consulting bases such as: Pub Med, Scielo, Academic Google, Scopus, in Spanish and English languages, with a restriction of 5 years old, regardless of the type of study. The abstracts were reviewed to verify if the article was valid for the research. RESULTS: The results obtained were that all articles reviewed agree that children with early childhood caries (ECC) have a negative impact on quality of life according to the ECOHIS scale. CONCLUSIONS: Early childhood caries deteriorates the quality of life of the child and the father, it does not only affect it physically, in the functions of chewing, phonation, feeding, but also psychologically in the aesthetic part, situations that will be reflected in the normal growth and development of the child.
