Dentro de este trabajo se propone orquestar dos pasacalles ecuatorianos utilizando las técnicas de orquestación de Gil Evans, las cuales fueron obtenidas tras un análisis de dos temas específicos seleccionados previamente. Además, de tratar de mantener en lo posible el sentido autóctono de ambos pasacalles. Para el análisis de los temas se emplearon diferentes instrumentos y métodos de investigación tales como: audición, transcripción musical, análisis armónico, análisis melódico y entrevistas a músicos especializados en el tema. Todos estos instrumentos nos ayudaron a recolectar la información necesaria para realizar la propuesta. Los temas analizados fueron Boplicity y Moon Dreams pertenecientes al álbum Birth of The Cool de Miles Davis. Ambos temas fueron orquestados por Gil Evans. Mediante el análisis de estos temas, hemos extraído las técnicas de orquestación más empleadas por Gil Evans. A través de la recopilación y aplicación de las técnicas obtenidas tras el análisis en la propuesta, se espera que el lector comprenda el uso más eficaz de dichas técnicas.
This research proposes the orchestration of two Ecuadorian pasacalles using the orchestration techniques used by Gil Evans, which were obtained after the analysis of two specific songs previously chosen. Furthermore, we tried to keep the indigenous sense as much as we could in both pasacalles. We used different tools and research methods such as: audition, transcription, melodic and harmonic analysis and interviews to specialized musicians. All these tools helped us to collect the needed information to create the proposal. The two analyzed songs were Boplicity and Moon Dreams which are on the Birth of The Cool album by Miles Davis. Both songs were orchestrated by Gil Evans. Throughout the analysis we extracted the orchestration techniques used by Gil Evans, as well as some key aspects that are important when he orchestrated. By collecting and applying these techniques after the analysis in the proposal, we hope that the reader understand the more effective way to apply these techniques.
