Description: The Importance of Being called (SBR) is a 63 min. length documentary film. Nicola and Helen are a female couple who wanted to register their newborn child, Satya, but whose petition was denied by the Ecuadorian registration office. In this film, we join them through some of the moments they lived from that day on. From the lawsuit they presented against the registration office, to the media coverage. The support they received from LGBTI activists and the, somewhat violent reaction of certain conservative groups.
La importancia de llamarse (SBR) es un largometraje documental de 63 minutos de duración. Nicola y Helen, son una pareja de mujeres, a quienes el Registro Civil ecuatoriano negó la petición de inscribir a su hija Satya con los apellidos de ambas madres, alegando la inexistencia de la doble maternidad en el sistema. La película recoge los momentos que vivieron Helen y Nicola a partir de ese hecho. La demanda que presentaron contra el Registro Civil, la cobertura mediática, la participación de grupos LGBTI que apoyaban la causa de la pareja y la reacción, incluso violenta, de algunos grupos conservadores.
