Diseño e implementación de talleres de educación ambiental para cuarto, quintos y sextos cursos de secundaria en seis colegios

Environmental Education is one of the fundamental tools to develop appropriate attitudes, opinions, beliefs and conducts concerning the sustainable way to aboard the relationships between humans and the natural environment. Interactive workshops are a useful form to approach environmental subjects among adolescents. This project focused in offering workshops of environmental education in tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades of six high schools in Quito and the Valle de los Chillos to increase the levels of knowledge concerning Biodiversity, Water Resource, and Garbage and Recycling. I used the modality of dynamic workshops with a diversity of visual demonstrations and a variety of questions to promote students’ participation. Also, I developed a method to evaluate the level of knowledge before and after the workshops, and questionnaires of responsible practices with the environment to analyse the context of environmental conscience and behaviour of the students. I guided a total of twenty workshops during October in six schools. The average of responsible practices with the environment is low to medium among all the students.
La Educación Ambiental (EA) es una de las herramientas fundamentales para desarrollar actitudes, opiniones, creencias y conductas apropiadas que vinculen las relaciones entre los humanos y el entorno natural de una forma más sustentable. Los talleres interactivos son una forma apropiada para abordar temas ambientales en grupos de adolescentes. Este proyecto se enfocó en ofrecer talleres de EA en cuartos, quintos y sextos cursos de seis colegios en Quito y el Valle de los Chillos para aumentar los niveles de conocimientos en torno a Biodiversidad, el Recurso Agua, y Basura y Reciclaje. Se empleó una modalidad de talleres dinámicos con demostraciones visuales y un sistema de evaluación previa y posterior a los talleres. También se emplearon cuestionarios de prácticas responsables con el medio ambiente, para analizar el contexto de comportamiento ambiental de los estudiantes. Se guió un total de veinte talleres durante el mes de octubre en los respectivos colegios. Se encontró que en promedio el cumplimiento de actividades responsables de los estudiantes con el entorno natural es de un nivel deficiente a medio. No se encontraron relaciones significativas entre el nivel de comportamiento ambiental y el puntaje de las evaluaciones previas para los tres talleres.
