The large volume of spatial data generated around the environmental management of a hydroelectric project creates the need for implementing a geographic information system that enables the management of spatial data to serve as a support for environmental management and further as a tool for planning and decision making. Geographic Information Systems allow not only for a support at the conceptual level structuring management tasks, but also at the organizational level. For this reason the present thesis aims to investigate the reach of GIS methodologies beyond a design for a conceptual model of spatial data management, and provide the guidelines for the administration and creation of a technical unit that is proposed to be capable of meeting the needs of internal users regarding the identified environmental management tasks related to GIS for the hydropower project.
El gran volumen de información espacial que se genera en el área ambiental de un proyecto Hidroeléctrico crea la necesidad de implementar un sistema de información geográfica que permita el manejo de los datos espaciales para que sirvan de soporte a la Gerencia ambiental y ayudar a que este sea una herramienta de planificación y toma de decisiones. Los Sistemas de información geográfico permiten llegar a esos niveles siempre que se tenga una estructura de manejo no solo a nivel conceptual si no a nivel organizacional, por esta razón el presente trabajo pretende llegar a no solo plantear un modelo conceptual de almacenamiento de información, si no también dar las directrices de la administración y creación de una unidad capaz de atender las necesidades de los clientes internos de la Gerencia Ambiental.
