Description: The archaeological museum and center of investigations is born as a new idea for the city. Archeology began in Ecuador approximately forty years ago and even today the necessary infrastructure for research and exhibition of our large cultural material hasn’t been built. From a few years ago the tendency is to do small museums for private collections, and the majority of these are being erected toward the zone of La Mariscal and the center of Quito. This archaeological museum is established in the northern part of the city of Quito, a land that forms part of 37 hectares that, by important archaeological findings, were named national heritage of Ecuador.
El museo arqueológico y centro de investigaciones nace como una nueva propuesta para la ciudad. Desde hace aproximadamente 40 años empezó la arqueología en el Ecuador, y hasta hoy no existe la infraestructura necesaria para una correcta investigación y exhibición del material cultural. Desde hace un par de años la tendencia es hacer pequeños museos con colecciones privadas, y la mayoría de éstos se están erigiendo hacia la zona de La Mariscal y el centro de Quito. Este museo arqueológico se implanta en un terreno muy central en la zona norte de la ciudad de Quito, un terreno que forma parte de 37 hectáreas que, por importantes hallazgos arqueológicos, fueron nombradas patrimonio nacional del Ecuador.
