Description

Infrastructure is an essential aspect in the development of societies. These are the ones that connect different urban spaces. Therefore, this thesis has the purpose to connect three public urban spaces of Quito: La Carolina Park, Plaza Argentina and Parque El Batán, by a suitable green path for pedestrian and cyclists. The Quebrada el Batán is understood as a linear heavy infrastructure, which was formerly a path to Tumbaco and will be recovered with the design of an urban park for extreme sports and other recreational activities. The architecture of this park must resolve the constraints of the place by a lightweight, flexible and appropriate infrastructure. This will be based on an equilateral triangle, and will compose a polyhedron capable to contain space for different uses, and could grow through the ravine.
Las infraestructuras son un aspecto esencial en el desarrollo de las sociedades, y son las que anexan los distintos espacios de la ciudad. Por lo tanto, esta tesis tiene como objetivo urbano anexar tres espacios públicos de Quito, el parque La Carolina, la Plaza Argentina y el Parque El Batán, mediante un eje verde adecuado para el peatón y el ciclista. La quebrada el Batán es comprendida como una infraestructura pesada lineal, en la que antiguamente existía una vía hacia Tumbaco y será recuperada con el diseño del parque urbano El Batán que tendrá deportes extremos y otras actividades recreacionales. La arquitectura de este parque debe responder a las condicionantes del lugar mediante una infraestructura liviana, flexible y adecuada a la topografía y al programa. Se utiliza una unidad que tenga la capacidad de resolver las variantes mediante distintas configuraciones, basándonos en la figura base, el triángulo equilátero, la que compuesta forma un poliedro. Éste poliedro podrá contener programa y será la unidad básica de asentamiento en el parque.
