The reality of the contemporary societies around the world is that are daily exposed to cultural grazes between each other. It’s obvious that new styles of live are making positive changes; yet, at the same time a social conflict is arising in Andean capital like Quito, where discrimination and social prejudice are the reasons of insecurity and the lack of equality. If there is a constant fact worldwide is that everything is moving and in constant change. This investigation is the synthesis of an untreated issue that threats human being. The structure of the paper is based on two forms of research, one contemplates the social migration situation in Quito and secondly a parallel work investigation that shows the process of forming an ideal social community. Social Sciences and Architecture can surely change many aspects of life, once Fred Gage a known genetic scientific from Salk Institute in California said: “Changes in the environment change the brain, and therefore they change our behavior.” La Mariscal: Integration Community of Immigrants uses architecture and its activities in order to change environments, consequently their formation and quality life. The site of the project was very important for its good functioning; statistics and urbanism mapping where used for the location of the project so it could accomplish the goal of integration. The main point of this investigation was to achieve the goal of integration: in a physical way like a road, in a social way like the living style of Quito and create a sense of a universal concept of neighborhood.
Las sociedades contemporáneas están diariamente expuestas a múltiples roces culturales entre sí. La convivencia con otro tipo de culturas y la globalización de las naciones ha generado varios estilos de vida; sin embargo, ha generado al mismo tiempo un conflicto social en donde prima la discriminación y la exclusión de los inmigrantes en capitales andinas tan frecuentadas como es Quito. Si hay alguna constante en todo el mundo es que nada es estático, todo se mueve y es cambiante. Esta tesis es la síntesis de una problemática que no ha sido expuesta desde el punto de vista netamente arquitectónico sino del social en donde el inmigrante ha sido excluido de la sociedad, en este caso quiteña. El proceso investigativo está compuesto por dos formas de búsqueda: la primera abarca la parte actual del inmigrante y la segunda se explora el tipo de comunidad ideal para la vivienda de estos individuos. Las Ciencias Sociales y la Arquitectura pueden cambiar muchos aspectos de la vida cotidiana a nivel macro urbanístico. Una vez Fred Gage, científico genético del Instituto de Salk en Californio dijo: “Los cambios en el medio cambian el cerebro, y por ende ellos cambian nuestro comportamiento.” La Comunidad de Integración La Mariscal usa la arquitectura para cambiar el medio y la calidad de vida de los inmigrantes. La decisión del lugar fue determinante para que funcione como articulador. El objetivo de la investigación fue el cumplir con las expectativas de integración tanto física como social y crear el barrio tan perdido de Quito.
