The company "Muebles Su Estilo" is a group of manufacturers and dealers of handcrafted furniture. The company currently organizes the transport of goods with a fleet of trucks to each of city of Ecuador. Unfortunately, in recent times, there have been a number of thefts to the trucks on the road. For this reason, the night shifts were suspended. Additionally, the trucks have had several break downs along the road, making the delivery very costly and more so causing a problem with the customers. The introduction of GIS with GPScontrol will allow to know the exact location of the trucks, and what products they have loaded. The database will let us know if the transports are on time, and will tell the maintenance schedule of the truck. Locational information managed by the GIS design investigated in this thesis will also help to identify optimal logistics to provide technical assistance a truck with damages along the road networks of Ecuador, and coordinate eventual delays with the customers. Further more, the system is designed to register all deliveries, and support an optimal routing of the trucks within the cities to the customers location. And last but not least, GIS will support customer prospection by managing sales by city sector and calculating the respective costs involved.
La empresa “Muebles Su Estilo” es una agrupación de fabricantes y comerciantes de muebles artesanales. La empresa cuenta actualmente con una flota de camiones con la que realiza los viajes a cada una de las ciudades por carretera a diferentes horas del día y la noche, desgraciadamente en los últimos tiempos se han venido suscitando una serie de robos a los camiones en las vías por lo que se suspendieron los viajes nocturnos, además varias veces los camiones sufren daños en medio del camino y esto hace que la entrega se demore causando graves problemas con clientes insatisfechos, incluso con la devolución de la mercadería. La empresa cuenta también con personal de ventas que coordinan conjuntamente la venta y entrega de muebles para clientes residentes en las diferentes ciudades del país. El control geo referenciado nos permitirá conocer exactamente la ubicación de los camiones cargados de productos, conocer si están en el tiempo programado, necesita saber además cuál es el estado del camión, es decir si este se encuentra funcionando correctamente o si sufrió alguna avería, si fuera el caso, el personal de mantenimiento u otro camión necesita saber la ubicación exacta para poder brindarle la ayuda correspondiente y así no retrasar la entrega, ya sea reparando el daño o cambiado de vehículo. Saber también si el producto fue entregado a tiempo y en buen estado al cliente, así mismo necesita crear rutas de entrega dentro de las ciudades para optimizar tiempos y costos, además requiere reportes de ventas por sectores y provincias con sus respectivos costos de ventas.
